Chris and Reina Komisarjevsky have a family filled with children. When everyone is together, there's lots of activity, excitement, caring -- and, naturally, some disagreements. Reina is a full-time Mom who always wished she would have at least six children. She grew up the second youngest in a family of five children in Queens, New York. She remembers a neighborhood where the street was the playground for throwing a softball. Her father, a chef born in Switzerland, taught her the art of baking and she inherited his passion for getting it just right. And she will never forget the image of her mother, leaning out of the second story window of their two-family house, watching closely and anxiously waiting for her girls to come home, walking down the street.

Chris is a full-time Dad and the president and chief executive officer of Burson-Marsteller. He grew up in a family of six children, two families brought together in a second marriage after the mother of two and the father of three passed away -- then a sixth was born of that new marriage. His mother was one of the pioneers of modern dance and, with a special ability to sense what was going on in a child's mind, she opened her own dance school. Chris' early memories are shaped by the time he spent playing among costumes when his own father directed theater in New York City. And he looks back with great fondness on the years when his stepfather introduced him to tennis, hockey, and writing.

After graduating from college and then spending five years in the U.S. Army -- reaching the rank of Captain and serving as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam -- Chris went to graduate school, on to work in New York and then to Europe. Now working from the Burson-Marsteller worldwide headquarters in New York City, he has responsibility for the business with two thousand professionals across the globe. As a public relations professional, he has counseled chief executives, senior management, and communications professionals from private and public companies in a wide range of industries whose operations are both in the United States and throughout the world. He has authored articles on communications and business and lectured at graduate schools. Chris has a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master's degree in business. He is a 1996 recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, serves on the boards of a number of nonprofit organizations and as a trustee of a mutual fund company.

Chris and Reina wrote this book together -- simply because they are partners, they learned from each other and from each of the children, and one could never have done it alone.
