Hank Valon was born in the country, where his parents instilled a thirst early on for the kind of adventure found in books. He had a taste of street fighting in Detroit, but fortunately the family returned to the country life before it became damaging. He grew up on a farm with assorted animals and machinery, learning responsibility in caring for both. He went to Southern Illinois University on a teacher's scholarship, where he majored in social studies and graduated with a B.S. in Education. He worked for D.O.D. during the end and the phase-down of the Vietnam War. He is married to Aunt Minnie, and has been a barber for the past fifteen years. Currently residing in Garden City, Missouri (the heart of the border war country), they have six kids and twelve grandkids. Both are history students and Old West re-enactors with the Osage Valley Vigilantes.
