We've gotten some questions about how the wildcards will work, so we wanted to take a moment to give everyone an update about it.
It will basically work in the same way that has always been explained from the beginning of the contest. The four jury members will be awarding one wildcard each to authors with outstanding stories that weren't voted in by the public. These wildcards will be announced during the last week of the nomination rounds.
The first wildcard that was given early in the contest was a surprise bonus wildcard, which was why there was a special requirement for a specific number of votes and reviews. As you can see on our Nominees page, there are still four open spots. These wildcards will be awarded solely based on writing merit.
Tips:
- The jury members will be much more likely to read your story if you've included an interesting summary that is free of spelling and grammar errors.
- It's not strictly required for a wildcard, but you can improve your chances of being noticed by uploading a quality author photo and banner.
