Interview

Each week authors will be given a new question to answer which will lend additional insight into their story and writing process. Do you have a question you'd like to see the authors answer? Tweet it to @aNextAuthor!

Q:
What is the best writing advice you've ever heard?
A:
The best advice I have received was about the format and lack of editing in my story. I have two novels that are being published. I am in the process of writing a couple of new novel I changed the format as advised.
Q:
When you start a new story do you prepare an outline in advance or do you just jump right in?
A:
I prepare a brief outline of characters and plot. I know the end in my head before I even start!
Q:
How do you deal with writing criticism, apart from just ignoring it?
A:
I take constructive criticism and apply it. I am not afraid of someone saying something bad. I am open to it.
Q:
America's Next Author has been running for almost 8 weeks. If you could re-submit now, would you change anything about your story?
A:
I would change the format. I have been told continually to do so and My story would have been great!

Oh, I love, love, love romance! I was looking forward to the MC and Scott hooking up. Not quite sure I liked the repeat-day thing. Things can go in one way or another. Was a great read, though. As others have pointed out, some editing will make it better, espeically with paragraphing where a different person starts speaking. It will make it easier. All in all, well done.

Really good story and well written and it made you feel you were there with her. Good luck with the competition and would you take time to read my story and review it please. A Dreamer's Dilemma

Firstly, may I applaud the initiative to firstly write but more importantly put that writing 'out' for all to read. With a strong edit paying particular attention to grammar, tense and pace, this could be a good story. Unfortunately as I opened the 'page' the density of words with almost no white space visible, immediately felt intimidating. Be aware of the presentation of words on the page, as well as rules of the page - to help the reader. Well done for the attempt and please edit it and allow others to read it again... the story deserves another go.

Hi, Anetta. I enjoyed your story. It was good. Just one note. When you are writing dialogue you should start a new paragraph whenever you change speakers. It will make your story easier to read and will keep your readers from being confused by which person is speaking. If you have the time, please read my story, 'Drift Away' and leave a review to let me know if you liked it.

Haven't even started and it sounds good. And ingenious to have a natural teenage situation seem as if it could have a syndicated twist.
