Catherine Alliott became an author almost on accident. She was working as a copy-writer in an ad agency, and when she grew tired of writing blurbs for products she started writing a novel under her desk. When her boss discovered what she was doing she got the boot, but that made her more determined to finish the novel. She was able to work on it while her baby boy was taking naps, and once it was done her husband encouraged her to send it to an agent.
