David V. Nelson was born in South Boston, Virginia and began his martial arts journey in 1984 with a Taekwondo class that was offered at his gym. David got his first black belt in 1987 and joined the Army in 1988. Working out, stretching and overall fitness where very important early on for David and he did well as a soldier and a Tank Crewman. In 1991, David finished his term of service honorably and decided to continue serving in the North Carolina National Guard. He began college in 1992 and finished Pharmacy School in 1996. David finished his term of service honorably with the Guard and passed the Pharmacy board exam that same year and began practicing pharmacy. David always maintained his martial arts knowledge and began taking formal Taekwondo classes again in 1996. David earned his second black belt in 2000. David branched out by taking Wing Chun, Muay Thai Kickboxing and by training at multiple martial arts schools before joining a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) school in 2005. In 2004 David had self-published a mostly Taekwondo based martial arts book, but began to add a great deal of knowledge from training MMA. Starting in 2006, David spent a year and a half as an Active Isolated Stretching Therapist at Triangle Trigger-point Therapy, where he helped people with stretching, strengthening and healing. In 2006 David passed the exam to become a certified Personal Trainer, however he discovered that his license to practice Pharmacy gave him a much greater scope of options for training clients. In 2011, David began work on his latest martial arts book featuring Master Kenji Somsak Saykosy of Royal Tiger Academy in Raleigh, NC.
