E.L. Konigsburg eBooks
The famous children’s author, E.L. Konigsburg was actually a teacher and chemist before starting her life as a writer. Born in New York, she stayed there briefly, before moving on to Ohio and then finally settling down in Pennsylvania. Graduating from high school, E.L. Konigsburg went on to receive her bachelor’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University.
There she met her soon to be husband David who worked as a psychologist. Nowhere along this line had she ever thought of writing a book of fiction. It wasn’t until her children had all started school that her attention turned to writing. Her unmistakable style of writing, she says, comes from watching the people and the world around her. Although her characters are fictional, there just might be a bit of this person or that; possibly a familiar part of the park, found in her work. The fact that her characters are a mixture of real people is cited as being one of the reason’s children find such common ground with the main characters and love them dearly.
E.L. Konigsburg won the Newbery Award for her book, From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler. This nod of gratitude from those who loved her work was enough of an inspiration to keep her writing many more books. Her books are cherished by children around the world and if not for her fans, there might not have been other books such as, The View from Saturday. She has been quoted as saying that she loves the adventure that she can bring to kids and that’s what keeps her coming back to the blank page time and again.
