Ed co-founded Strategic Talent Solutions with John Philbin to advise CEOs and other executives about how to develop their talents, lead their teams, change their organizations and engage their employees. He focuses clients on making sure they have the right leaders in the right roles, working together effectively to produce the right results. In recent years Ed has specialized in helping Boards with CEO selection, and aiding top teams with strategy development and organization design.
Ed’s clients have included companies as diverse as Abbott Laboratories, Best Western, Boeing, Coca-Cola, Intel, True Value and Whirlpool.
In addition to his consulting, Ed is a world-renowned business author. His top ten best-selling book, The Talent Solution, translated into five languages, demonstrates how to grow and be profitable on the foundation of an aligned work force. He has published more than 20 articles on leadership, motivation and rewards and has served as Executive Editor of the journal, People & Strategy (formerly Human Resource Planning).
Ed serves as an independent board member for Wilshire Mutual Funds and the Wilshire Variable Insurance Trust. He has taught in the MBA, executive education and physician leadership programs at the University of Chicago, Cornell University, the University of Dayton, Indiana University, the University of Minnesota and the University of Wisconsin. He served on the retirement security policy committee of the Obama Presidential campaign and advised the Presidential Transition Team on Social Security. He holds a B.A. from the University of Minnesota and a Ph.D. from Cornell.
