Fern Michaels eBooks
Fern Michaels is American author best known for her thriller and romance novels. Born in Pennsylvania in 1933, Michaels’ legal name is Mary Ruth Kuczkir. She was a stay at home mother until the youngest of her five children went to school. At that time, she decided to become a writer.
Michaels’ second manuscript sold, and would be published as Pride and Passion in 1975. This was followed by Vixen in Velvet in 1976. In 1977, she published Captive Passions, the first of her four-part Captives series.
Many of Michaels’ 99 books have been New York Times best sellers. Many of her novels focus on women who have overcome adversity, something she says is a reflection of the difficulties she’s had in her own life.
Though she has written a number of standalone novels, many fit into series. After she started the Captives series, she began the Texas series in 1985, the Sins series in 1989, and the Vegas series in 1996. In the 2000s, she has begun four additional series, Kentucky, Sisterhood, Cisco, and The Godmothers series. The largest of her series, Sisterhood includes twenty novels.
Many of Michaels’ books have also been published as omnibus editions. While some of these, such as Vegas Trilogy, are reissues of her series, others are omnibus volumes with other writers. These include 2006’s Sugar and Spice, which also included stories by Beverly Barton, Joanne Fluke, and Shirley Jump.
Michaels continues to regularly publish new novels. She set up the Fern Michaels Foundation to give scholarships to needy students.
