Interview with Karen Ramsburg

Name one of the best political books of the last few years.

The Shock Doctrine by Naomi Klein.

What is a typical writing day like for you? Do you have a work set schedule? What are your surroundings?

I work full time as a nurse, so I’m not able to write full time. When I do write I like to take my computer and sit in a comfortable chair in my back yard.

If you had chose between writing and being in politics, which would you choose?

I’m definitely a hands-on person and much prefer politics over writing.

Did you ever read a book and then wish you had all that time back?

If I don’t like a book I stop reading it.

What do you think are the main parallels between 1765 and today's political landscape?

An incompetent government that is totally unresponsive to its citizens.

What is the best writing advice you've ever been given?

That accuracy is more important than credentials.

What is the worst book by a politician that you know of?

Going Rogue by Sarah Palin.

Why go independent as a candidate?

Because neither party is working for 99% of us.

Have you ever faced the curse of writer’s block? If so, how did you deal with it?

No, I’ve never experienced that before.

What do you think of eBooks? Do you support digital publishing?

I think it’s a great idea and probably the wave of the future.
