Lin Clements

Born and raised in Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania - which sounds like a zombie battleground, if there ever was one – Lindsey Clements is a veteran of the United States Navy and graduate of Ashford University. A former copywriter with a B.A. in Public Relations and Marketing, she is currently working on her Graduate Certificate in Herbal Medicine from the American College of Health Sciences. Lindsey resides in Virginia Beach, Virginia with her husband, two beautiful daughters, their Rottweilwer named after a beloved Firefly character and one bossy tabby cat named Boots. When she’s not writing and preparing for the inevitable zombie takeover, she enjoys crocheting cute creatures, cooking in her Kosher, gluten-free kitchen and adding to her gun collection.

First of all, Lin -- thank you for your service to our country. Your story is beautifully written and one of the few that kept my interest from beginning to end. I am the wife of a veteran, and we both agree that you captured this imagery wonderfully. And, it's refreshing to see a writer who takes as much pride in her grammar and syntax, which seems to have fallen off with the new generation. Well done.

The life of the military is one that affects even the people around the troops. Author Lin Clements captured that through her character Sam, a soldier left with old scars and a couch to remind him of the people who were with him through out his military days, his glory days. A very well written short story with details we tend to miss about the post-military life of a soldier. I wouldn't miss this experience to learn about it through a moving piece.

I could smell the leather from the couch and feel the heat from the tea. Amazing story!

Wow. This was a very powerful piece, thanks to the careful attention to detail and the author's evident knowledge of the subject matter. Unlike many stories with similar outcomes, plenty of information is given to the reader to justify this ending. In addition, it addresses an important but often overlooked topic, as many returning military members suffer from PTSD. Great job!

Awww...unfortunately this is probably more common than we really want to know. I was hoping for a happy ending for Sam...Good story though. Surprising how you put SO MUCH DETAIL in about the couch and it didn't detract from the story at all!

An excellent short story. The detail is amazing, and the need to find out where this soldier's thoughts are going, keeps you drawn in until the very end. Well done!
