Ted Dekker is an author of over forty books, including mysteries, fantasies, and thrillers. His books have been New York Times best sellers, and have sold over 5 million copies worldwide.
Dekker was born in 1962 in Indonesia. His parents were missionaries, and were often absent. His childhood experiences have been used in his novels, and he has said that it helped him create imaginary worlds.
After leaving Indonesia, Dekker took up residence in the United States. He pursued a degree in religion and philosophy. After working as an entrepreneur, he decided to pursue a career in writing. His first attempts were rejected by publishers, but he kept writing. His first published novel, Heaven’s Wager, was released in 2000.
Dekker’s mainstream success came with the publication of Thr3e in 2003. The same year saw the publication of Blink. Both Thr3e and House, the 2006 novel he co-wrote with Frank Peretti, have been made into films.
His novels fit into several series, including the five books of The Circle Series, the three books of The Paradise Series, and the six books of The Lost Books Series. He has also written two non-fiction books, The Slumber of Christianity and Tea with Hezbollah.
Dekker’s writing has attracted a solid fan base that has organized several unofficial conventions. Additional gatherings are being planned to coincide with the 2013 publication of Sovereign. That novel is part of The Book of Mortals Series, which Dekker has co-written with Tosca Lee.
