Terry Pratchett eBooks
Sir Terry Pratchett is the author of numerous books and series. Knighted in 2009 for Services to Literature, he was the best selling author of the 1990’s in the UK and has sold seventy million books worldwide.
His first novel, The Carpet People, was published in 1971, whilst his long running Discworld series was launched in 1983 with The Colour of Magic. Since then he has written two books a year on average and is the second most read writer in the UK.
Pratchett has been honoured with an OBE and has many other awards and honorary doctorates including a Carnegie medal for the children’s book The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents.
Born in 1948, Pratchett had a childhood interest in astronomy which led him to read science fiction novels by H G Wells and Arthur Conan Doyle; undoubtedly these novelists encouraged his imagination, and the interest in astronomy is still with Sir Terry today as he has an observatory in his garden!
After leaving school Pratchett worked as a journalist but by 1987 he was writing full time. He married in 1968 and has a daughter, Rhianna, who is also an author.
Currently living in Wiltshire, Sir Terry is Trustee for the Orangutan Foundation UK when he can spare time from writing and campaigning for the Alzheimer’s Research Trust, a condition which has sadly affected Sir Terry.
He has published in both Science Fiction and Horror genres but now mainly writes Fantasy and young adult fiction.
