About SUCCESS by DESIGN Publishing

Founded in 2000 by Dr. Howard W. Penrose, Ph.D. as a technical publisher, SBD expanded in 2002 by launching SBD SF&F, a science fiction, fantasy and horror eZine with a twist. SBD SF&F authors would be selected and posted by SBD on www.motordoc.net/sf&f, then the readers would vote on the best stories to be published in eBook anthologies. Starting in 2003, SBD SF&F has planned a series of eBook story collections and novels available in Microsoft Reader and Adobe Acrobat formats. SUCCESS by DESIGN Publishing is a member of the Small Publishers Association of North America (SPAN).

The goal of SBD SF&F is to publish new and existing authors solely on the merit of their stories.

About the Editor

Dr. Howard W. Penrose, Ph.D. is the Chief Editor of SBD SF&F and is the author of technical books, SF&F short stories, magazine articles and technical papers. Dr. Penrose holds a Ph.D. in engineering as is the Past Chair of the Chicago Section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE - 7800 Chicago Members) and is the Vice Chair of the Connecticut Section of IEEE (3800 members). He has advised the US Department of Energy, Canadian Electrical Association, utilities, research groups and industrial concerns world-wide on energy and new technologies. He has been a Professor, professional speaker, design engineer, field service engineer, business manager, business owner, consultant and publisher. Dr. Penrose is a member of IEEE, IMI, NETA, EMCWA, and MENSA. Dr. Penrose has always had a strong interest in Science Fiction and Fantasy and its relationship to expanding the imagination of young and old alike (ie: how else would we have had cellular and satellite phones without Star Trek?). What is in the imagination of writers and readers, alike, may be the future.
