Quite Different

A bit like Cluedo, all the mystery and action unravels under one roof. Hanne is the most reluctant sleuth I have ever come across which made a nice change. It was interesting to see that although she had retired through injury and was trying to close that door behind her, her inherent investigative skills and powers of perception shone through and dragged her unwillingly into the puzzle. It didn't have the usual pace of most thrillers I read and to say the threat is enclosed and imminent, I didn't quite feel the tension of the atmosphere. Anne Holt does do an excellent job of pulling all the strands of the story together in the second half of the novel, which tightens it up and leads to a satisfying conclusion.
