Joe Olvera went on to accomplish many feats as a reporter for the El Paso Herald-Post and the El Paso Times. His memorable series on immigration was entered into the U.S. Congressional Record. The constant denominator in his trailblazing work was a passion for righting the wrongs he saw. His latest battle is against diabetes, a ravaging disease that kills and disables thousands of people each year.
