Changing your perspective
Even before reading the book, just the title caught my eye and determined me to go over the author's theories. Creating we, written by Judith E. Glaser is a compelling book, aiming to persuade organizations to change their culture and design from I thinking to We thinking, as the author says. It is very useful, I would say a great achievement for an organization to be able to change, although this process is a long-term one and it is very hard to implement, especially when dealing with old misconceptions and prejudices. The three main steps described by the author that lead to a healthier approach of organizational structure are "Believing WE", "Learning WE" and "Becoming WE". These steps help stakeholders achieve better communication, integrated goals and overall improvement of their activities. Moreover, this social responsible view might lead to a higher motivation for employees, which will improve their productivity, innovative and team-working skills. It must be mentioned that this is not an easy book, but a complex one which needs to be read several times in order to be able to adapt and implement its theories in the organization. Though, it is extremely helpful and should be written by all actual and future managers.
