Fifty-Fifty, The Clarity of Hindsight is a compilation of the lessons learned by a fifty-year-old lawyer, wife, mother, daughter of immigrant parents, survivor and thriver, though not of course always in that order.
By professional and personal circumstances, the author has traveled to more than forty-five countries, lived abroad as an expatriate twice (first in Japan and then in France) and speaks several languages.
The book, apropos of the title, contains fifty chapters, recounts many fascinating travel vignettes and astute observations, reflects on interesting work-related "war" stories and is often hilarious - as only truth can be - and sometimes heartbreaking, as life sometimes is.
About the Author:
Julie L. Kessler grew up in California and Hawaii, graduated with a B.A. in political science from the University of Hawaii, Manoa, and received her Juris Doctorate degree from The National Law Center at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. The author has lived in Japan and in France, and has spent significant periods of time in Israel, Hong Kong and Indonesia. She is a jet-fueled world traveler, attorney, wife and mom. When not working or roaming the globe in search of good food, good wine and interesting people with whom to break bread, she can be found enjoying her family and two crazy canines not far from an airport in Southern California.
The author's mother traveled right up to the end of her life, which came just three months following her fifty-first birthday. "In her honor, and to mid-centurions everywhere, I devote these writings. The very best is right now and exactly where you are headed. Wherever that may be." JLK
