Is fear-mongering the only way to discourage teens from drugs? I am not sure. I am not sure this book is the right one for carrying that message either. As you get into the diary, it becomes increasingly clear that the journal isn't authentic, which undermines the potency it could have. If it were an actual drug-addict's diary, I imagine it would hold a lot of weight. It is a possible way to open a dialogue on drug issues with your youngsters, though, so it oculd be worth a try if you don't know where to start.
