A novel about the courage of five women in Argentina's war of terror during the 1970s. Their lives are observed by an American banker who has stayed in Buenos Aires after most foreigners have been evacuated. He falls in love with one of the women, a refugee from another war who is living in Argentina under a false identity, but they are drawn into the war between the guerrillas and the military.
eBookMall recently interviewed Tom Milton. Here is an excerpt:
What's more scary: being in a country that's recently broken out into war, or trying to get a book published? "In my career I was often in countries when war broke out, or a revolution began, or a government cracked down on the opposition, and as scary as those situations were, they were not as scary as trying to get a book published. Your chances of getting out of those situations alive are much greater than your chances of getting published. Luckily, publishers turned down my earlier novels, which now I’m glad were not published, and the ones I think are really good are being published."
