This book looks at the fascinating relationship, one some might say of convenience, between Iran and Russia. It isn't a discursive rally of regurgitated facts, but a very good piece of research. Parker has interviewed some key Russian figures which adds weight to Parker's authority. He looks closely at the motivations for the periods of complicity and tension between the two, and the role Russia's pursuit of superpower status has played. John W. Parker has written an absorbing book that sits well on an academic shelf, but equally on the bedside table.
