Savage is a poetry collection that is different and unique. It is one that views events from a perspective of the left and is not politically correct. It uses both free and rhymed verse on a wide variety of subjects, employing many different forms. This collection deals with our world of extremes: of war and peace, wealth and poverty, the powerful and the powerless, religious fanaticisms, hypocrisies and humor. Many believe poetry should only concern itself with the wonders of the natural world, and the most noble aspects of human nature, but ignore the worst of the human condition.Poetry, which deals with social, political, and historical matters, crimes and inequities, is often denigrated and dismissed as "social protest," deemed to be of little value, and not worthy of serious interest or consideration.Pre-emptive wars, genocide, terrorism, racism, global warming, worldwide extinctions, economic bondage, toxic waste, and the threat of nuclear annihilation, are all great concerns which thoughtful people, and poetry, must address. It is within the power of poetry to inspire, even infuriate, as well as enlighten. Savage aspires to do just that.
