William Henry Drummond was a 19th century Irish born Canadian poet. He trained to be a telegraph writer after leaving school at age 14 to help support his mother and brothers. He returned to school and became a well loved compassionate doctor. His most famous poem was "The Wreck of the 'Julie Plante". Drummond loved the French Canadians and wanted to tell their story. He used the stories of his friends as the basis for his writings. Poems in this collection include: De Habitant, How Bateese Came Home, De Bell of St. Michel, De Snowbird and others.
