Apartheid legislated bowling on grass to be the sole preserve of the white race, whilst others were relegated to bowl on matting wickets. The struggle for Freedom on the cricketing fields of South Africa played a key role in ensuring that ALL could eventually bowl on divinely ordained! Ye Shall Bowl On Grass is a unique compilation of short stories, and in a sense is autobiographical, as it portrays vital aspects of a Life's journey depicting the human struggle of a South African cricketer/journalist/diplomat transversing the country during a bygone era, and various continents since. Short stories...pregnant with meanings that amuse and entertain, yet remind old and new generations of what happened and should never again happen, either in South Africa or anywhere else in the World. RAFIQUE GANGAT, philosopher, cricketer, music impresario, broadcaster, and writer - was the first-ever career diplomat of 'colour' for South Africa. He served as Vice-Consul in Beverly Hills and on his return became the Spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs, later serving in Karachi as Consul-General and then as Ambassador to United Arab Emirates. He quit the diplomatic service after being Ambassador to Palestine in 2003, where he embarked on establishing a Radio Station.
