| Something goes terribly wrong! The novel takes us into the twilight between nuclear war and an attempt to prevent it. In the shadow of a world in which the past no longer applies, in which everything has changed, a quiet search begins for what is ultimately real, that goes deeper than conventions. In a multithreaded romance an unfolding sense of humanity comes to light that takes on the form of a natural universal love and brotherhood. With everything put in doubt, love and brotherhood come to the foreground as preciously enduring and more valid once the artificial is stripped away. - The unfolding universal love gradually becomes reflected in the stories of five families; two Russian; one Canadian, Japanese, and one American. Their stories take us on a voyage across fifteen time zones against a background that is constantly changing. The voyage takes us to a New World and opens up a new life in Russia, unfolding new challenges, tragedies, and triumphs from the depth of the spark of universal love that grows brighter. But soon they find themselves forced to rescue themselves from that New World in which the old mentality still rules. - The author, Rolf A. F. Witzsche has dedicated this novel to exploring the developmental issues for building a richer and brighter humanity and a more secure world. Hence the title: Brighter than the Sun. |

| A SCIFI novel about nuclear war. Out of a bright hope unfolds a tragedy. - The science has two opposite centers. One reflects our nuclear-armed world. The other reflects the domain of spiritual freedom where old axioms become discredited and fall away. Around the first center the world unfolds as a dangerous place. Irrationality has become an institution. Plans are forged that nobody really wants. They take on a life of their own and become a force by which people are unwittingly carried along. - However, when the grim unfolds and our worlds are shattered, many institutions are shattered likewise. Among these is one that has held the forces of truth in confinement, which might have helped us avoid the grim. - As the simple science of these forces unfolds, it shifts the center towards universal love. The brightening spark permeates relationships, uplifts romance, sex, friendships, especially our love for our own humanity. The spark becomes a fire. In its light people begin to treat another as human beings. - The fire brightens what it touches of our world. Except, when the 'gold' is not kept precious the world of the grim invariably dims the horizons again and the precious drifts out of sight. |
