| Ever since her divorce, Cassidy Romanelli refuses to trust another man. When she hears the new CEO of her company, a multi-millionaire bachelor named A. E. Haydon-Smith, will soon visit the New York office, she isn't particularly interested. She's had enough of men and their lies. A chance meeting in the park with a bearded stranger, Alex Smith, causes her to rethink her stand against men. She's intrigued by the contrast of Alex's rumpled appearance with his urbane, polished manner. Against her better judgment, she agrees to see him again for lunch. Alex Smith is really A. E. Haydon-Smith, taking a holiday before assuming the responsibilities of his new job. He longs for people to be interested in him, rather than his wealth. Cassidy's actions reveal that money makes little difference to her. He finds her deliciously different from the other women he has known, and decides to pursue her. He doesn't know that he is her employer. When their paths cross at work, Cassidy is furious at the now clean-shaven Alex. She feels he intentionally misled her, and she doesn't want anything to do with him.
