Pumpkin Critter Summary
|
The story, which is in rhyme, casts Pumpkin Critter in the role of a tough-talking bully who leaves his pumpkin patch to chase a young boy all the way home. During the chase, Pumpkin Critter threatens to do harm to the boy upon catching him. Fortuneately for the young boy, Pumpkin Critter turns out to be a real klutz, bumping into a cow, falling into a pond, tumbling into an abandoned well, and catching his foot in the gate just as the boy reaches home safely. That night Pumpkin Critter sneaks into the boy's house and slowly makes his way to the boy's bedroom. Just as he is about to give the boy the scare of his life, the boy wakes up and shouts "boo" at Pumpkin Critter, scaring him so badly he faints to the floor. The lesson learned is that bullies are often cowards and will back down when confronted. |
