Simulacron Three Summary

It is a jangling and disintegrating near-future, a world in which virtual reality has become the primary means of entertainment and the more significant part of life for most of the population.

Daniel F. Galouye's 1964 novel of virtual reality, time travel and murder in a synthetic 1937 "New Orleans" brilliantly anticipates science fiction's cyberpunks, who were to come decades later. It was the basis of the 1994 film THE THIRTEENTH FLOOR which itself anticipated THE MATRIX. Galouye, a combat pilot, always lived in New Orleans.

Galouye?s brilliant 1964 novel of virtual reality, time travel and murder in a synthetic 1937 "New Orleans" was the basis of the 1994 film THE THIRTEENTH FLOOR and ultimately THE MATRIX.
