Three Scripts for the Screen Summary

Sanctuary: If King Lear were set in modern day, weren't so long, had a happy ending and a lot of comedy relief, it would read like Sanctuary...kind of. Sanctuary is the story of an old man, his scheming daughter, his loyal son-in-law, and his new-found rather mystic lady love; his son-in-law's weary but heroic pursuit of happiness and reluctant romance; and his teenage granddaughter's pursuit of romance...or at least a boyfriend with a driver's license. Although originally written for the stage, the expanded settings and characters add considerably to the overall impact of the story and its portrayal. Straight-haired Truth: What if whenever you saw a politician's hair standing straight out on end you knew for sure he was telling you the absolute truth? The Straight-haired Truth is a satirical farce about a government afraid to let its citizens know its true agenda and true modus operandi. It is also the story of one of its main targets, an irreverent satirical commentator and political cartoonist. A quote from one of the characters, a secret projects scientist working for the government on a secret project: " This is our secret weapons laboratory. Doctors Luce and Wylie, who you met at the big secret meeting, are working on a top secret, secret weapon to be secretly used against those enemies of the state who keep trying to tell the public that their government operates in a shroud of secrecy." Sacred Gardens: Set in a dying world where corporate interests use the government and religion to its own ends and literacy is a federal crime, Sacred Gardens is a high action intrigue depicting the last days of life as we know it on Planet Earth. It is a fantasy built on a poetically spiritual exercise in salvation, not a device or tactic, which is the mistaken consideration of the authorities in pursuit of the one man who just might have the only way out.
