How To Buy eBooks

Buying and downloading eBooks is easy, but there is a bit of learning curve when you're new to it. We understand that so we've put together this guide for you to follow. There are a few very important things to do before you buy an eBook.

Step 1: Determine which eBook format you need.

eBookMall currently supports the industry-standard formats PDF and ePub. When browsing our website you'll notice two variations on each, displayed as:
ePub
ePub (Adobe DRM)
PDF
PDF (Adobe DRM)

eBooks shown with Adobe DRM must be downloaded with an authorized copy of Adobe Digital Editions. Our Adobe Digital Editions page gives you step-by-step instructions on how to do this. It's easy and you only have to do it once for each of your eReading devices. The eBooks shown as regular ePub or PDF do not require the use of Adobe Digital Editions. You can you use your favorite PDF or ePub viewer for those eBooks.

When choosing a format, the most important consideration is the type of device that you'll be using to read. ePub eBooks are "reflowable," meaning that the text will re-arrange itself to fit your screen size. This makes ePub the ideal format for smaller screens like smartphones, and it's also excellent for medium-sized screens like those on tablets and eReaders. PDF is great for larger screen sizes like your laptop or desktop monitor.

Before making a purchase, check our list of supported devices to verify that you'll be able to read our eBooks on your specific device.

Step 2: Install the required software.

Once you've determined which eBook format will be best for you, you will then be able to install the required software for that program. Check the eReading Devices list and find your device. Then look underneath the name at "Formats supported by this device."

For example: If you're using an iPad, and you check the eReading Devices list, you will see that you can use all four eBook variations. If you click on one of those formats, you'll be taken to that format page which explains everything you'll need to do before buying eBooks.

Step 3: Try a free eBook.

After you've determined which eBook format you need and installed the required software for that format, you can try working with an eBook by downloading a free eBook.

Important Note: Usually free eBooks don't have any digital security on them so they won't be as picky about which software you have to use. You can at least verify that the format works on your device. But be aware that if our informational pages don't mention the format you're testing, you should not assume that a paid eBook in that format will work the same way.

Step 4: Buy eBooks!

Now that you know which eBook format your device can use, and you're familiar with how to use that format and its software, go forth and buy eBooks!
