New Feature: YouTube Videos

October 30th, 2012 | Learn how to add a YouTube video to your Author Page and see some great examples from authors who have already taken advantage of this fun new feature.

Each week we're adding new features that will help you promote your story and keep your page interesting for readers. This week we've added the ability to post videos from YouTube on your Author Page. This gives you the exciting opportunity to speak directly to your readers, and posting a YouTube video also means other people will get to know you and your story!

Fun Ideas

- Film an interview in which you answer questions about your story and yourself as a writer.
- Create a "story trailer" similar to a book trailer.
- Present yourself as an author in a video blog.
- Create a short commercial for your story.

Examples and Inspiration

See Simon & Schuster's book trailers for professional examples of book trailers.

These ANA authors have already added great videos to their author pages:

Dom Goodall

Sherrill Willis

I. Wright

Jen Barton

JoAnne Sutton

These authors have used different techniques in their videos so check out each one for ideas.

How to add a video to your Author Page

1. Login to your account
2. Click the "My Author Page" tab
3. Scroll down to the YouTube box and enter the last part of your video's URL.

We hope you're having fun with this! When you post a video make sure to share it on Facebook and Twitter so that all of your fans will return to your Author Page to see it and vote.
