"There has been a terrible collision at the intersection of literary iconoclasm and rampaging super-ego, and no one is screaming louder in the wreckage than Aaron C. Engler."

The Road for zombies. Well written and entertaining. Left me needing to know more.

Other zombie media deal with the inevitability of death, and sometimes with the greater horror of what the living become when faced with that certainty. Event Zero delivers the disturbing reminder that the monsters we most fear are our own creations. Crimes of passion are terrible, but so are the horrors committed in the name of rational self interest by the emotionally locked-in, and the atrocities meted out by the self-righteous in the name of whichever almighty pardoner they subscribe to. Mr. Engler's subtext packs a wallop.

I found this well written story a refreshing change in a genre that's become a bit trite. It encourages, no, it demands, readers use their own brains. I definitely hope to read more from this author.

Since Romero's revival of the genre, zombie stories have walked the line between exploring the possibilities inherent in zombies, and exploring the response of the human mind to apocalyptic catastrophe. This story does a nice job not just of walking the line between these two poles but of obliterating it. Oh, and it's a good read, too.

So...he wasn't a zombie? JK. It's always nice to see a fresh take on the zombie mythos. Romero revolutionized the genre with a very simple twist on the old mythos and I think you have stumbled upon an equally compelling twist here.

A surprisingly compelling story that plays with your genre assumptions from the beginning. As an interesting point, it specifically starts with the answers and lets the reader discover their own questions through the entire piece. Here's hoping for sequels

The best way to characterize this story would be "28 Days Later meets HP Lovecraft's Haunter of the Dark" Gruesome and pretty unrelenting -- it goes places I've rarely seen other stories of this type go.
