Dave Radcliffe, an ex-serviceman, is trapped in an unhappy marriage to a much older woman, Claire. With a live-in, interfering mother-in-law, the only bright spot in his "domestic blitz" is his teenage daughter, Tracey. His desperation to escape his nightmare marriage is hampered by his intense love for his only child. When his daughter is raped by two Moslem asylum seekers, Dave joins the ultra-racist political Party, The English National League (E.N.L), and soon becomes their MP for Coventry North-East Constituency. But Dave harbours a dark secret that could destroy his reputation if discovered. He has a black mistress, Dee Vickers, who has a son for him. Exposure would ruin him politically, socially and financially. When he's involved in a serious car accident, which leaves him hospitalized, his wife gets hold of his Blackberry mobile phone, which contains several compromising texts and pictures of his mistress. Claire not only exposes the affair to the press, but also shoots him with one of his own shotguns. Dave survives the attack but will need all his powers of persuasion to convince his mistress to become his wife, in a very dangerous liaison indeed. With the recent violent attack on her person and the near loss of her sons to the social services, Dee is reluctant to further endanger her children's safety by marrying Dave. Their love will have to overcome numerous obstacles to survive. Brown Plague is a romantic story with a political and racist theme.
