An intelligent read

I enjoyed reading this comtemporary female take on Islam. I can't think of many other topics more relevant than that of young American Muslim females who straddle two identities. It wasn't at all what I expected and I have to say the various essays banished any sterotypes I had been harbouring. I read this and felt that I actually learned something. I did struggle to keep in mind, though, that these essays are writen by activists for the Muslim feminist cause and as such may not be 100 % representitive of all muslim women living in America. It does, however, show a wind of change, and an transparent and honest book like this one can a great deal of good in reaching out to readers across cultures as well as within one faith.
